Workplace Status:

Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week.

The Team:

The Low Voltage Infrastructure Team within the Embedded Platform Systems & Infrastructure organization is focused on the development of systems and controls centered around on-vehicle low voltage power generation, energy storage, power management, distribution, and consumption control. There is no better time to join this newly formed team as we evolve to the next generation of low voltage power architectures and consumption control strategies in SDV2.0!

The Role:

As a Test Engineer for the Low Voltage and Activation Management Systems, you will be planning, developing, executing, and analyzing system level tests that ensure our designs satisfy our customer’s expectations on system performance, reliability, and quality. Specific tasks include leading development of test plans, choosing evaluation methods, executing tests, collaborating with virtual tool owners, analyzing results, migrating physical based test activities to virtual, leading root cause activities, and collaborating on solution development.

Our upcoming work brings new, difficult challenges when it comes to effectively testing activation management strategies and complex functions within new low voltage architectures. This is an assignment where creativity, initiative, analytical skills, a deep understanding of our customers’ experience, and cross-functional teamwork is crucial and celebrated!

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and execute test procedures that align to system level functional and performance requirements, related to the low voltage system technical specification, activation manager system technical specification, energy consumption target verification, service/device activation profile performance, and end-to-end testing of low voltage and activation related features.
  • Participate in DFMEA development and reviews.
  • Improve existing or invent new evaluation methods as needed.
  • Plan and negotiate allocation of resources necessary to support testing (both physical and virtual).
  • Track feature development and align testing activities with TFRP timing; support CoSim demos.
  • Mentor and provide training opportunities for new and/or less experienced colleagues.
  • Collaborate with test script development engineers to automate test plans.
  • Support issue triage and new feature integration testing with software and systems engineers.
  • Review product design and manufacturing changes to develop risk-based test plans.
  • Support development of customer use cases with systems engineers.
  • Summarize and communicate test status, support data driven design direction.
  • Ensure correlation of physical testing to virtual testing to fulfill goal of virtual modeling capability and accuracy.
  • Support setup and debugging test properties to assure test readiness.
  • Lead build process for test articles from concept to physical builds where needed, manage bill of materials assigned to the build and manage resources required for the build.
  • Collaborate with facilities, technical leads, calibration teams, hardware release engineers, systems engineers, and others to improve processes and evaluation efficiency.
  • Develop and implement standard work processes and procedures.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, and/or Chemistry.
  • 5+ years of automotive engineering experience related to embedded controls, calibration, requirements development, systems engineering, and/or testing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including independent judgement and decision-making skills, where problems are unusual and difficult.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple complex assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results.
  • Physics-based understanding of voice-of-customer.
  • Experience defining and troubleshooting interactions between hardware and embedded controls.
  • Understanding of the SDV2.0 Architecture and/or subsystems within the low voltage domain.
  • Knowledge of system/component content, analysis procedures, technical requirements (SSTS, CTS, VTS, etc.), development needs, program timing, and standard tests.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationships for cross functional collaboration.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Design or test experience with automotive low voltage electric power related components, controls, subsystems, and/or architectures.
  • Design or test experience with software, controller, or communication activation strategies.
  • Proficiency in Agile processes and built-in quality concepts such as Behavioral Driven Development.
  • Experience executing production programs through launch.
