Job Description Summary

Senior Architect is a technical leadership role responsible for providing thought leadership and expert guidance to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) serviceability domain in technical and functional aspects of software development, research and problem solving. You will be responsible for multiple software projects with high complexity that require in-depth domain knowledge of two or more specialized architecture areas.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Drive MRI software serviceability architecture domain technical and business reviews.
  • Lead and coordinate the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction across the product portfolio or product line.
  • Analyze design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership with maturity in balancing scope, timing, and resources.
  • Drives software development and data delivery platforms with reusable components keeping platforming in perspective.
  • Demonstrates superior product and industry knowledge and helps the organization gain a competitive edge.
  • Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements at domain level within product portfolio or team.
  • Collaborates with Principal Engineers, cross-functional team architects, to understand their evolving requirements and translate them to architectural runway features and ensures execution.
  • Participate in the EA (Enterprise Architecture) domain governance model.
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.
  • Communicate technology strategy in a simple, understandable manner to the business leaders and engineers.
  • Finds opportunities for collaboration across groups in the division, ensures that cross-team commitments are set, and achieves scale in work efforts by enabling the work of others.
  • Chooses the appropriate internal or external technologies, incorporates research, creates designs that can be reused across teams, and is an excellent judge of practices that work well.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in processes and methodologies with ability to adapt and improvise in various situations.
  • Guide junior team members in the art and science of software development, promoting a quality-centric approach to software development.

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
  • Minimum 8 years of software design & development experience working with cross-functional teams in an industry environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Software Architect leading a technical team delivering software designs.
  • Experience in object-oriented design (OOAD) methodology and mastery of programming languages such as Java/C++ and scripting languages Python/Perl/Bourne.
  • Experience with Web Application Frameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Experience with API-first development and REST or HATEOAS concepts.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQLite.
  • Experience in software development on Linux operating system.
  • Proven knowledge of the Software development lifecycle in product delivery and maintenance.

  • Constantly analyzes industry trends in software development practices, technology stacks and becomes a change agent in driving them across the imaging platform software organization.
  • Demonstrates mastery of the intricacies of interactions and dynamics in Agile teams. Guides the team to adopt Agile, troubleshoots adoption efforts, and guides continuous improvement.
  • Drives elimination of inefficiencies in legacy infrastructure & development practices. Willing to learn innovative technologies as well as maintain existing products. Flexible with roles and job duties per business requirements
  • Hands on experience with multiple relevant technologies that may include Java, Perl/Python, JavaScript, Code analysis tools (e.g., SonarQube, Coverity), Docker, VMWare tech stacks.

  • Evangelizes innovative technology, predicts trends, and identifies new opportunities based on trends. Acts as industry expert by participating in defining standards and open-source initiatives.

  • Recommends allocation of budget to meet architectural initiatives critical to business/mission success.
  • Prioritizes projects based on an assessment of competitive needs. Anticipates areas of competitive vulnerability and offers plans to mitigate them.

  • Experience acting as a Product Owner within Agile.
