Summary Description

 nbkc bank is currently looking for an experienced, flexible Senior Data Engineer to help build a lasting data foundation at nbkc. 

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll help build and maintain data pipelines that keep the bank running smoothly, while getting hands-on with all things data – storage, reporting, and more. You'll collaborate with key business leaders to deliver insights and mentor junior data enthusiasts along the way. Plus, you’ll stay up to date with the latest tech and help shape the future of nbkc’s data architecture!"

What you’ll do

  • Support nbkc’s data engineering initiatives by maintaining current data pipelines and building new ones 
  • Deploy your problem solving and development capabilities on one of the most data-rich industries: finance 
  • Contribute to all facets of the data ecosystem (storage, pipelines, reporting, etc.) 
  • Work directly with key business leaders to deliver insight that has a real impact on the bank and its customers 
  • Act as a mentor and guide to junior members of the data team
  • Participate in and lead individual and team code reviews 
  • Play an integral role in designing and building nbkc’s data architecture
  • Keep pace with the latest research and cutting-edge open-source projects in the field today 
  • Follow all applicable laws and regulations
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

What you’ll bring

  • A positive, self-motivated disposition and an excitement to tackle challenging problems 
  • Ability to communicate precisely on complex topics 
  • Knowledge of ETL and data warehousing best practices and processes 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Analytics or related field 
  • 6+ years of work experience in data engineering, software development, data visualization or related topics 
  • 6+ years of experience writing production-oriented Python code including usage of common data libraries (Pandas, NumPy, etc.)  
  • 6+ years of experience with SQL 
  • Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases 
  • Ability to work comfortably in a Linux command line environment 
  • Experience with scheduling platforms like Luigi or Airflow 
  • Familiarity with machine learning principles

Bonus Points

  • Experience building components in Microsoft Azure 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI or other visualization tools
