Description

Hilltop Holdings is currently looking for a qualified student to join our Information Technology team as an Intern.The Enterprise Security Engineering Intern will engage with our senior technical security staff to implement and maintain technical security controls to ensure the security of Hilltop s information systems. The Security Engineering Intern will assist with identifying misconfigurations in technical controls that impact the security goals of deployed solutions. The Intern with work under the supervision of IT management responsible for our security tools and network related hardware and software solutions to gain insight into and an appreciation for processes and activities, specifically related to our security posture and controls. Identify root cause for recurring issues reported through our vulnerability management toolset, collaborate to design the remediation, and plan the implementation of the solution.



Responsibilities

The intern will rotate through three specific functions within the IT organization (security engineering, project planning and user experience when interacting with enterprise security tools and solutions).


The intern will provide a presentation to articulate their assessment and work for each of the three functions. This will provide the intern with experience and visibility across three critical components of an IT organizationโ€™s charter and responsibilities (IT planning, security operational support and end user experience).ย 



  • Areas of focus will include:

    • Email / Messaging Security

    • Privileged Access Management

    • Data Security

    • Network Security & Traffic Analysis

    • Endpoint Security

    • SIEM & SOAR

    • Vulnerability Management / WebApp Scanning

    • Application Security

    • Cryptography / PKI

    • Securing Cloud Services


  • Other duties as assigned



Qualifications

  • Must be at least a junior currently enrolled in college pursuing a bachelorโ€™s degree in: Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineer, Systems Engineer, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Management, or another similar major.

  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills

  • Proven self-starter who can initiate tasks and follow up to completion

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills

  • Exceptional analytical skills; above average attention to detail

  • Desire to learn about career opportunities in the Information Technology area and/or financial services industry

  • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Candidate MUST have authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring sponsorship, whether in student status or not
