We are a retro video game company dedicated to producing new games for classic consoles like the Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, and Sega Genesis. Our debut project, Crystal Mine, is slated for release on the NES, with plans for physical cartridges and digital distribution via virtual platforms. We have a pipeline of exciting projects lined up and are looking for a talented Project Manager to help bring them to life.

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in video game development to lead our team and ensure our projects are completed on time, on budget, and within scope. You’ll play a critical role in managing the development process, identifying potential challenges, and driving solutions to keep our team on track. This is a 1099 contract position, with the potential to transition into a full-time, salaried role (including benefits) in the future, contingent upon relocation to Gillette, Wyoming.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of developers, artists, and other personnel to meet project goals.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and successful game releases.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and challenges, providing actionable solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure clear communication between team members and stakeholders to align on goals, progress, and changes.
  • Oversee the final stages of Crystal Mine development, ensuring the game is ready for production and release.
  • Collaborate on future titles, implementing lessons learned to streamline development.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing video game development teams with a track record of successfully shipping games on time and within budget.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and coordinate diverse team members and disciplines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to the unique requirements of developing games for retro consoles.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with retro game development or a willingness and ability to learn quickly in this area is highly preferred.

Compensation

  • This is a 1099 contract position with competitive pay based on experience.
  • Potential for future full-time, salaried employment (including benefits) contingent upon performance and relocation.
