Job Description:

The ICS/OT (Industrial Control Systems and Operational Technology) Security Engineer role reports up into Manufacturing Strategy – Automation. This position will be part of a team of ICS/OT professions that support manufacturing sites across the regions (NA/LATAM/EMEA/APAC).

In this role you will support ICS/OT Infrastructure, PCN (Process Control Network), PDH (Process Data Historian), and manufacturing OT DMZ. You will also assist in the design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the ICS/OT networks and systems throughout these areas. The role troubleshoots problems, identifies solutions, and performs routine administration at both the infrastructure and application levels.

This role is responsible for the efficient performance, administrative maintenance, and “boots-on-the-ground” level support of OT (Operations Technology) systems at manufacturing location. The role involves overseeing general technical processes to ensure optimal performance & operation while maintaining the security posture to minimize cyber exposure risk. In this role, you will work closely with site operations and maintenance personnel.

Key Responsibilities
 

Infrastructure

  • Maintenance of system design documentation and asset inventories of the site ICS/OT environment (including the OT DMZ and Process Control Networks).
  • Maintenance of architecture and dataflow diagrams for systems in the ICS/OT networks including interconnections up into IT Business networks.
  • Support the administration of a virtual environment including Host Hardware, Hypervisor, and Virtual Machines.
  • Assist with and maintain site specific client software installation procedures for PDH. Work with local and corporate IT to support deployment and roll out of those applications. Ensure compliance to corporate policies and procedures pertaining to these tasks.
  • Coordinate and assist with the execution of backup and recovery processes.
  • Provide technical maintenance of ICS/OT systems pertaining to Network Infrastructure and Endpoint management.

System Management.

  • Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the Endpoint & Anti-Virus (AV) solution within the OT/ICS environments (DMZ, Process Control Network, etc.).
  • Assist in application patching and upgrades.
  • Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting of OT network devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls in the OT DMZ, and Process Control environment.
  • Knowledge working with standalone & centralized managed firewalls
  • Assist with the troubleshooting and maintenance of the site historian system.
  • Assist with the troubleshooting and maintenance of analytics software suites.
  • Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the interfaces between the local historian (on-prem) and enterprise historian (cloud).

Project Management

  • Actively participates in OT/ICS projects. This role must work closely with capital projects, researchers, and management to juggle tasks and priorities.

Communication

  • The ICS/OT Engineer role will require effective communication both orally and through written reports and memos. The role must maintain a positive working relationship with end users, other groups, and senior management

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT and OT system administration, development, and maintenance
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience protecting Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in critical manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of typical ICS Operational technology components.
  • Familiarity with IEC-62433 and all other industrial cybersecurity standards
  • Knowledge of the Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture
  • Experience leading, coordinating or managing projects.
  • Experience in the usage and maintenance of Process Data Historian (AspenTech IP21).
  • A good understanding of computer network structures, theories, principles, and practices.
    • Exposure to industrial network design (ICS vendors AspenTech/ GE/ Siemens/ Rockwell/ and ABB-Symphony)
    • Exposure to industrial protocols (Profibus/ Modbus/ OPC/ ControlNet/ Ethernet/IP etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and to travel regionally (25%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 Year degree in a STEM associated field preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with users, support personnel, and management.
  • Working experience in an ICS/OT Industrial Manufacturing Environment (Industrial Controls)
  • Examples of General network Training and/or Certification (CCENT/ NETWORK+/ etc.)
  • Examples of ICS/OT Training and/or Certifications (ISA/ SANS/NIST/ etc.)
