Compensation includes a base salary of $156,200.00 - $260,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

We are seeking a Principal Software Architect to lead and build our Cloud Native Development and Modernization Practice. This high-impact role offers significant growth potential, including the opportunity to evolve into a practice leader. You’ll guide clients through the transformation of legacy architectures into modern, cloud-native solutions. Strong communication skills, including delivering technical presentations and creating client documentation, will be key as you translate complex solutions into business outcomes. Your proven problem-solving abilities and experience tackling technical challenges in fast-paced environments will drive innovation and ensure client success. Your leadership and client-facing expertise will be essential as we develop this practice.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and contribute to multiple client-facing workstreams, driving technical engagements from discovery to delivery.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to define client engagements, craft proposals, and participate in the sales process as a technical expert.
  • Conduct in-depth discovery and architecture engagements, creating technical artifacts and presenting solutions to clients.
  • Architect and oversee development efforts for both internal teams and client projects, ensuring solutions align with client goals.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to Architects and Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Facilitate the development and review of contracts, proposals, and statements of work.
  • Play a pivotal role in building and scaling a new practice within RapidScale, contributing to both technical and business growth.
  • Roll up your sleeves, write code, and build proofs of concept when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years’ experience in Software Architect/Engineer roles OR a
  • master’s degree and 8 years’ experience Software Architect/Engineer roles OR a Ph.D. and 5 years’ experience in Software Architect/Engineer roles OR 22 years’ experience in Software Architect/Engineer roles.
  • 3 years of experience managing teams of architects and engineers, including responsibility for conducting technical interviews, assigning tasks, and ensuring the successful delivery of project milestones and deliverables.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) designing and implementing solutions in at least one of these platforms.
  • Experience in two programming languages (e.g., Node.js, Go, Python or others) with a working knowledge of additional languages. Experience with transforming legacy code (e.g., Java, .Net) into cloud-native microservices.
  • Experience with containerization technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker, with exposure to decomposing monolithic architectures into microservices or designing microservice-based architectures.
  • 3 years of experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and utilizing cloud automation tools for efficient software deployment.
  • Experience managing professional services engagements involving architecture, development, and delivery, including client interaction and project execution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in consulting or professional services capacity.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and collaboration with design teams.
  • Experience working with offshore development teams.
  • Hands-on experience with testing and automation frameworks.
