Line Manager: Lead Mobile Developer

Internship Terms: Between 8-12-month Term commencing January 2025 working 37.5 hours per week

THE TEAM

Universe is a leader in online ticketing for general admission events. We’re constantly innovating with a focus on attractions and exhibits and are growing our team! We serve some of the biggest names in entertainment across attractions & clubs with operations spanning 15 countries across North America and Europe.

Our global team of over 60 people, we operate as an independent entity within the larger Ticketmaster/Live Nation family. We set our own roadmap and operate a modern tech stack (i.e., Kubernetes, Docker, Flux and more!), all with the financial backing and resources of a Fortune 500 company. THE INTERNSHIP

The Mobile Developer Intern will work as part of a team, under the mentorship and support of an experienced lead. They will deliver fixes and features to our onsite BoxOffice apps for native Android and iOS. There will also be opportunities to work on other exciting projects across our tech stack as they arise for candidates with an interest in backend services or web frontend development. You should have a desire to learn, a sharp attention to detail, and a drive to work on high-visibility features. We need you to help us bring our platform to the next level and connect fans to the entertainment they love.

THROUGHOUT YOUR TIME WITH US YOU WILL

  • Deliver features to a resilient real-world app (BoxOffice), leveraging Swift, Kotlin, Sqlite, Fastlane, gRPC, and Kubernetes.
  • Debug and fix issues faced by real-world event hosts running exciting events around the world.
  • Work with a Product Manager to scope, schedule and execute tasks in our backlog.
  • Work with UX Designers to negotiate scope and anticipate risks during the design process for new features.
  • Work with Developers to write, debug, and review mission-critical code changes before releasing product changes to our customers.
  • Shadow and pair with other Developers to solve challenging problems, such as building high-performance queries, redundant fault-tolerance, custom UX interactions, point-of-sale hardware integrations and more.

YOU WILL PROBABLY BE A GOOD FIT IF YOU

  • Are currently enrolled in a post-secondary program that requires participation in a co-op/internship placement as part of the curriculum to graduate.
  • Have proven ability to work collaboratively across various teams to drive results.
  • Are adaptable and used to working in rapidly changing environments.
  • Love solving puzzles and problems, particularly when they involve analysis to reach a conclusion.
  • Get excited at the thought of taking ownership of something tangible, with the potential to impact thousands of people.
  • Possess deep passion for using technology to solve problems.

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Experience using Swift, Kotlin, Sqlite, or developing mobile apps.
  • Experience working in ticketing and/or the events industry.
  • Solid portfolio demonstrating a love for building.
