Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Field Test Engineer to join our team. The Field Test Engineer will conduct on-site testing and validation of our products and systems, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively in diverse field environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Field Test Planning and Execution:
- Develop comprehensive field test plans to evaluate and validate smartphone performance across different network technologies (e.g., 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi) and geographical areas
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product management, and network partners, to ensure test objectives align with product requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct field tests, analyze network coverage, call quality, data performance, battery life, display quality and Software features under real-world conditions
2. Global & Local Regulatory Certification:
- Interface with network operators and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary certifications for smartphones to launch in various markets
- Understand and adhere to the certification requirements set forth by different operators and regulatory bodies, ensuring successful compliance for our products
- Proactively identify potential issues and work with internal teams to address them to expedite the certification process
3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze field test data, interpreting results to identify areas of improvement and optimization
- Prepare comprehensive reports outlining the findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders, including management, product teams, and manufacturer engineering departments.
- Performing devices log analysis
4. Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the product development team to understand product features and capabilities, providing feedback on potential performance improvements
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that the identified issues are efficiently addressed and resolved
5. Competitor Benchmarking:
- Conduct thorough benchmarking of competitor smartphones to gain insights into their performance, features, and capabilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of competitor specifications, test results, and performance metrics
- Collaborate with product management and R&D teams to formulate strategies for product improvements based on benchmarking findings
- Regularly provide competitive analysis reports to management and key stakeholders, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for our smartphones
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field. A master's degree is a plus
- Proven experience in field testing and certification of smartphones or mobile devices in a professional capacity
- Familiarity with mobile communication technologies (e.g., 5G, LTE, GSM, CDMA) and wireless network protocols
- Understanding of network operator certification processes and regulatory requirements (e.g., FCC, CE, PTCRB)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to present technical information effectively to diverse audiences
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic work environment.
