What will you do?


 


Azure Summit Technology is currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team. This position is located on-site at our Fairfax, Virginia, headquarters location with occasional overnight travel to our Melbourne, Florida, office; and other sites as required.  Your future team has worked together to produce the following job description:




The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for the developing and implementing technical solutions and for configuring and maintaining systems in compliance with DoD cybersecurity and Information Assurance (IA) requirements.




Primary duties include system security patching, antivirus updates, conducting system testing, security assessments, analyzing, creating, and managing diagrams, configuration artifacts, assessing and documenting authorized ports, protocols, services, collaborating with system and network engineers to ensure RMF compliance or develop mitigation strategies to achieve an acceptable risk level.




The engineer will assist software and hardware developers in applying security lockdowns using DISA STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), SRG (Security Requirements Guides), SCAP Benchmarks, and industry best practices. The engineer will conduct security scans using common DoD compliance tools such as ACAS/Nessus and SCAP Compliance Checker and document configuration and lockdown details using STIG Viewer Checklists and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).




The Cyber Security Engineer will lead Assessment and Authorization (A&A) efforts on variety DoD Cyber/IT systems coordinating with the project engineers, contract leadership, government leadership and Authorizing Official (AO) to earn an Authorization to Operate (ATO) for each environment or system. Efforts will include developing a Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) and metrics-based roadmap to reduce vulnerabilities and increase security posture. Additionally, the candidate will interface with the software development team to ensure security best practices are adhered to during development. The successful candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of Cyber Security based on experience and industry recognized Cyber Security frameworks and should have a focus on real-world reduction of risk. The successful candidate will should be knowledgeable in the following:





  • DoD IT RMF (Risk Management Framework) and experience analyzing system configurations, cybersecurity requirements, and policies and procedures

  • DoD cybersecurity tools and utilities such as ACAS\Nessus, SCAP Compliance Checker

  • Experience facilitating information systems Authorization to Operate (ATO) compliance and re-accreditations in accordance with DoD 8510.01 and ICD503

  • Implementing DISA STIG and SRG security requirements

  • Patch management and testing techniques

  • Experience supporting and participating in Security Assessment Visits (SAVs)

  • Microsoft Windows-10 and RHEL 6/7/8 Operating Systems, switches, routers, firewalls, network and host Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)




Basic Requirements





  • US citizenship, due to nature of the work and contract requirement

  • Active TS/SCI clearance, due to nature of the work and contract requirement

  • BS degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or equivalent

  • Minimum 6 years’ Cyber Security experience

  • DoD IAT II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ or IAT III Certification such as ISC2 CISSP.




Preferred Qualifications





  • Bash Shell, PowerShell Scripting Language or equivalent

  • Telos XACTA Risk Management Platform

  • Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)

  • Experience with VmWare
