We are looking for an Electrical Test Engineer to join the Systems Test Team and support the Propulsion Integrated Product Team (IPT). You will work with a team of engineers to develop and instrument electro-mechanical fixtures for the development, production and certification testing of Wisk Generation 6 electrical propulsion systems. 

You will assist with design and development of test fixtures for component level tests, including electric motors, controllers, etc, up to fully integrated propulsion systems. You will be responsible for selecting, sizing, and assembling the electrical and instrumentation portion of the test setups. You will develop Labview scripts to control, automate and record data. The successful candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, hands-on and ensure best safety practices.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Mountain View office.

What you will do:

    • Lead the electrical design, procurement, manufacturing, and assembly of test fixtures
    • Perform electrical analysis using first principle techniques to validate power requirements, appropriately size electrical components, and analyze grounding and electrical fault paths to ensure the electrical safety and stability of test rigs
    • Support testing through thorough understanding of electrical power analysis, signal conditioning, and common industrial communication protocols
    • Determine the electrical requirements of facility and lab spaces
    • Develop wiring diagrams and create harness drawings
    • Work closely with a cross functional team to develop test rig conceptual design and requirements
    • Write test specification, operation manual and test procedures
    • Select and integrate transducers and data acquisition devices into test setups
    • Be responsible for equipment calibration and traceability
    • Procure parts and coordinate external suppliers
    • Support assembly of test fixture components and harnesses
    • Develop Graphical User Interface (GUI) in Labview for Data Acquisition and Control. 
    • Automate test execution, data collection and post-processing to increase test cadence and reporting, ease operation and increase safety
    • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and software issues during testing
    • Maintain test fixtures, configuration management, calibration log and upgrade them with the latest hardware and software versions
    • Ensure and improve safety protocols

What you have done:

    • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering degree
    • 5+ years of relevant work experience
    • Proficient with wiring harness materials, building techniques and routing methods
    • Proficient with National Instruments hardware (cRIO, PXI, cDAQ) and Software (LabView, Veristand, Flexlogger)
    • Proficient with data acquisition devices and sensors (accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gage etc..)
    • Experience with High Voltage systems, FPGA and electric motors
    • Experience interpreting PCB Schematics, Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and component datasheets 
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Desired:

    • Knowledge of power electronics and high voltage inverters
    • Familiarity with aerospace connectors, fasteners and best practices
    • Experience with DO-254 FPGA Validation process
    • Experience with rotating equipment testing (balancing, modal testing etc…)
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment 
    • Experience using power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters as well as shope tools
    • Hands on experience soldering, crimping and assembly cable for both large and small components

Pay Range the Company expects to pay: $136,100 - $160,100 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
