Senior DevOps Engineer

Spotlight Sports Group is a global media and technology company specialising in content and data within sports betting, horse racing and fantasy sports. With over 400 employees, the group operates multiple award-winning brands, including Racing Post, the world’s largest horse racing affiliate, Pickswise, myracing and Free Super Tips. We partner with leading operators across the betting industry to produce and build multilingual, best-in-class digital products and content to engage and educate customers. ICS-digital, an international marketing agency including ICS-translate, also operates under the group.

The role will:

Provide a professional and proactive service, aligned to the business needs in an ITIL best practice focused Operations team with a responsibility for providing DevOps collaborative assistance. Ensure development teams are provided with support for day to day development tasks within the development, stage and UAT environments prior to release to production. The overall success of this role feeds into successful development for improvements and evolution of Racing Post newspaper production, website and digital content infrastructure, products and services.

• Experience of hands experience implementing DevOps practices at scale
• Hands on experience working with AWS and Cloud and “everything as a service”
• Extensive experience working in a Linux/Unix/Windows environment
• Extensive experience with Jenkins CI Tooling
• Knowledge of state of the art monitoring technology and techniques
• Experience working with Restful APIs
• Experience with Configuration Management tooling (Ansible/Puppet/Chef)
• Extensive experience in Terraform
• Experience in scripting for automation (Bash/Python)
• Available for on-call duties, responding to work-related matters outside regular hours as per schedule

Desirable

• Knowledge and experience of push messaging (websockets etc)
• Previous development experience (Java/PHP/Python)

Senior Devops Engineers should also have experience of:

• Leading project tasks, helping colleagues with their career development and coaching more junior staff members.

• Leading by example and knowledge sharing to the wider platforms team (DBA/SRE).
