Job Description Summary

In this Gas Power Controls engineering position in the Control Systems Technology team you will be responsible for the system architecture, development standards, development environments, automation development, software compatibility and technical consultation for the Controls Automation Team’s suite of tools. You will lead the analysis, design, and development of a coherent architecture roadmap and will support the design and development of software with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods.

What you’ll do

The Senior Controls Software Architect is responsible for the system architecture, development standards, development environments, automation development, software compatibility and technical consultation for the Controls Automation Team’s suite of tools.

The Senior Controls Software Architect will partner with the Product Owner, Software Developers, and internal customers optimize the operability, performance, and reliability of our Controls Automation Team tool suite.

In addition, the Senior Controls Software Architect will:

  • Act as a system architect and Subject Matter Expert for the Controls Automation Team (CAT) suite of tools supporting the Control Systems Technology (CST) organization
  • Stay up to date with the latest versions of the CAT tools and ensure compatibility across product applications
  • Be responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
  • Lead development of next generation automation tools and solutions
  • Take ownership and maintain the various CST and CAT development environments
  • Be responsible for defining, documenting, and ensuring the team adheres to defined coding standards
  • Provide technical leadership/consultation to the CAT automation developers
  • Work with business owners and Technical Product Managers to understand and develop product requirements
  • Translate requirements into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
  • Work with technical product owners and developers to create multi generation software technology plans
  • Drive increased efficiency across the team, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
  • Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
  • Work cross functionally with all CST product teams to align activities and deliverables
  • Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
  • Engage other subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile, CI/CD, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
  • Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
  • Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
  • Drive design and implementation of the CST and CAT roadmaps
  • Consult customers on alignment of outcomes and desired technical solutions for multiple software
  • Clearly articulate the software configuration choices and related cost implications. Provides risk-assessed  options in relation to software design
  • Be a Technical Mentor to the team, share knowledge, provide feedback, and help remove “roadblocks”
  • Participate in the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architect direction
  • Assist in the analysis, design and development of a roadmap and implementation based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint
  • Gather and analyze data and develop architectural requirements at project level
  • Support the development software and data delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different teams
  • Research and evaluate emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities
  • Provide clear communication of strategy, development status, and risks to the team and business leaders


 

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience.
  • Experience developing web and Windows based applications using C#, .NET Framework, Web API, SQL
  • Minimum of 8 years working experience in engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years Controls Engineering experience


 

Eligibility requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support customer meetings as required
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required


 

What will make you stand out

  • 10+ years of GE Vernova power generation controls software tools design experience
  • 10+ years of Controls development experience (GT Core Engine, Combustion, and Accessory System preferred) with demonstrated knowledge of GE ToolboxST application code programming with Mark*VIe controllers
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading a diverse, cross-functional, global team
  • Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework Scrum team
  • Enthusiastic self-starter who leads by example, sets stretch goals and is committed to team building
  • Proven oral and written communication skills, and experience presenting to both business leaders and team members

The base pay range for this position is 111,200.00 - 185,400.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% bonus.
