Micron is seeking a Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. Collaborate with top professionals to drive innovation and deliver outstanding network solutions that strictly meet business requirements.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Plan, design, and analyze costs of network (wired and wireless), voice, data, and video infrastructure for mergers, acquisitions, and new/existing site construction or expansion.

  • Determine the needs of the site (bandwidth, network, etc.).

  • Research new equipment based on business requirements and hardware lifecycle per the IT Roadmap.

  • Minimize the cost of new equipment within budget constraints.

  • Analyze, compare, and determine the cost of implementing new technology or services.

  • Participate in IT projects.

  • Determine, recommend, and coordinate needed equipment (routers, circuits, concentrators, switches, servers, etc.).

  • Interact with vendors, service providers, and business units for integration of services and systems.

  • Seamlessly integrate new solutions into existing network solutions enterprise-wide.

  • Coordinate and facilitate the integration and support for new equipment.

  • Optimize the performance of new and existing equipment.

  • Determine equipment that needs to be retired and its replacement.

  • Collaborate with global network teams to integrate Micron standards and proven approaches into network builds at local sites.

  • Identify innovative ways to continually improve the user experience.

  • Collaborate with other IT teams.

  • Fix network performance issues.

  • Offer assistance for global operational network teams in resolving blocking issues.

  • Work with contractors and partners in support of operational activities.

  • Coordinate with vendors regarding updates to equipment and the equipment lifecycle.

  • Help manage, build, and operate monitoring systems that meet site and Operations team needs.

  • Configure and operate supported equipment.

  • Document processes and procedures.

  • Document network solutions and designs.

  • Provide formal corporate communications on directional changes or changes that will impact existing services.

  • Educate business units on the feasibility and limitations of the technologies in the environment.

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding network communications.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

  • Computer Science (preferred).

  • Information Technology or related field of study.

Experience / Skills Required

2 years’ experience in at least 2 of the following areas:

  • WAN technologies.

  • EIGRP, BGP.

  • DMVPN.

  • Familiarity with carrier connectivity and terms.

  • Wireless LAN Networks.

  • Site surveys.

  • VOIP over wireless.

  • Troubleshooting.

  • Data Center technologies.

  • VXLAN.

  • Cisco Fabricpath.

  • Coordinating and resolving server and storage connectivity challenges.

  • Superb communication skills.

  • Client connectivity.

  • QoS to support Voice and Video.

  • Packet capture and decode.

  • IP address management.

  • Managing IP DNS, DHCP, NTP systems.

  • Network monitoring and management applications.

  • Experience with scripting and APIs.

  • Automating network tasks.

  • Self-starter.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to install networking equipment and work within data centers and networking closets.

Experience Preferred

3-5 years’ experience in any of the following:

  • Wireless LAN Networks.

  • Cisco Systems.

  • Arista Networks.

  • Network monitoring and management applications.

  • IP address management, routing management, subnet assignment, VLAN management.

  • Experience with EIGRP and BGP.

  • DNS management.

  • Network access control technologies.
