Role Description:

The Pennsylvania Office of Administration is seeking a skilled network engineer to join the Enterprise Networking Services team within the Bureau of Infrastructure. This position supports the Commonwealth’s network infrastructure, focusing on the planning, design, and maintenance of local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN) across multiple state agencies.

 

You’ll be responsible for (Responsibilities):

  • Network Support: Install, configure, maintain, and support enterprise networks such as COPA Net and Keystone Net.
  • Vendor Management: Act as a liaison with external vendors to ensure compliance with SLAs and manage scheduled upgrades.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues using industry-standard tools, working closely with users, business partners, and service providers.
  • Network Architecture: Participate in network design, capacity planning, and network architecture modifications.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams, technical documentation, and knowledge base articles for troubleshooting.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure all network configurations meet OA security standards.
  • Change Management: Support Enterprise Change Management processes by submitting and reviewing change requests and documenting changes within the Network Notifications system.
  • Service Now Support: Manage network-related trouble tickets and incidents in Service Now.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    • Network Switching: 4-5 years
    • Network Routing: 3-4 years
    • SD-WAN: 2 years (preferred)
  • Certifications: CCNA preferred; CCNP beneficial.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture, including BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
    • Proficiency in network monitoring tools and automation.
    • Familiarity with the ITIL 4 framework and ServiceNow for incident and change management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Relevant certifications (CCNA/CCNP) and/or demonstrable hands-on experience.
  • Additional Skills: familiarity with Silver Peak SD-WAN, network security protocols, and change management practices.
Job Location:
  • Primarily based in Harrisburg, PA, with part-time telework options. Occasional on-site meetings and travel may be required. Only candidates residing in the greater Harrisburg area will be considered.
Essential Functions:
  • Maintain CJIS clearances.
  • Lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and business partners.
  • Operate network components, servers, and other IT equipment.

You’ll have (Qualification & Experience):

  •  Bachelor's Degree in related field is required.
