The Leading Niche is looking for a Communications Network Engineer II (CNE II) to join our team supporting the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC). EPIC plays a pivotal role in conducting investigations and interdiction operations by rapidly analyzing and disseminating intelligence related to illicit drugs and drug trafficking, illegal immigration, weapons and bulk currency smuggling, and transnational crime, including terrorism.


CNE IIs are expected to possess an intermediate to advanced working knowledge of digital communications, navigation, and monitoring systems. They will take on the responsibility of designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing these systems with minimal supervision, making significant contributions to the success of EPIC's critical communication infrastructure.Required Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Digital Communications Expertise:
    • Demonstrate an intermediate to advanced understanding of digital communications, navigation, and monitoring systems' theory, design, operation, and maintenance.
    • Independently design, install, maintain, and repair these systems.
  • Telecommunications and Network Planning:
    • Exhibit demonstrated expertise in telecommunications and network planning, contributing to the development of robust communication systems.
  • Telecommunications and Network Troubleshooting:
    • Display proficiency in telecommunications and network troubleshooting, swiftly resolving complex issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Network System Development:
    • Take a lead role in the development and implementation of advanced network systems, ensuring efficiency, security, and scalability.
  • Remote Communication Solutions:
    • Innovate solutions for remotely located, internet-based wired, wireless, Wi-Fi, microwave, and RF communication monitoring systems.
    • Establish secure tunnel connections to remote systems for seamless remote access and control of monitoring systems.
  • Operation and Maintenance:
    • Design, operate, and maintain remote electronic communications monitoring systems, including HF/VHF/UHF receivers, direction-finding equipment, time-difference-on-arrival geo-location devices, workstation computers, wireless access points and routers, laptop computers, and digital radios.
  • Deployment Readiness:
    • Be prepared to travel on temporary duty deployments to remote foreign and domestic locations, possibly with less than 24 hours notice.

Requirements

Β Β 

  • Education: a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, engineering, telecommunications systems, or a related field.
  • Experience: a minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing systems consistent with the primary duties listed above.Β 
  • Candidates who are currently CNE Is with a combination of at least five years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing systems and an associate's degree in computer science, engineering, telecommunications systems, or a related field are eligible for progression to the CNE II position.
